I arrived at ITatti, The Harvard Center for Italian Renaissance Studies in Florence in the height of the pandemic lockdown in Italy in Spring 2021. Museums, restaurants, and shops were all closed. The research center managed to continue to build a community despite restrictions by having events take place outside and in exterior garden structures.  Using what was available to me, the apartment we lived in became the stage for my set ups. The garden also became the subject of a series of videos which played off its classical order and extreme formality. It is often restrictions or limitations that become inspiration for the work.
